Meet our Staff and Board

  • Lindsay Debassige (she/they)

    Lindsay Debassige is a Two-Spirit M'Chigeeng Anishinabek person born and raised in Sǫ̀mba K'è , Denendeh. Lindsay is a multidisciplinary artist, educator, and facilitator for many Northern Initiatives. She is currently pursuing her education to become a Registered Psychologist to bring more gender and sexually diverse Indigenous representation into mental health spaces. Lindsay is passionate about building ethical, anti-racist, decolonial spaces and empowering First Nations, Inuit and Metis peoples of Denendeh to reclaim their culture, traditions, language, and identity. #LANDBACK

  • Meghan Keenainak (she/her)

    I’m Meghan Keenainak (she/her/hers), I’m Inuk and white, and I was raised and settled in Yellowknife. I’m anaana to 4 children, they are my guiding lights. I am an advocate for social justice and community care. I hope to bring a critical Indigenous perspective to anything I do. I enjoy travelling, astrology, and memes.

  • Lane MacIntosh (they/them)

    Lane is a white settler born and raised in Sǫ̀mba K'è, Denendeh. As a fat, agender human, Lane strives to amplify the voices of 2SLGBTQ+ children and youth and validate the existence of young people who can’t be visible safely. They are an Early Childhood Educator by trade and are passionate about birthwork, families, and the realities of being fat in 2SLGBTQ+ spaces. Lane has been with Qmunity camp since its first year and feels very honoured to continue to help create a space for youth to be, thrive and explore without bounds. They love music, stories, laughing and feeding people.

  • Chelsea Thacker (they/them)

    Chelsea is a white, non-binary & queer settler originally from a small community in Ontario, and has been living in Sǫ̀mba K'è since 2015. They are the Executive Director of the Northern Mosaic Network, the NWT’s only organization for 2SLGBTQ+ people. As someone trained in Child & Youth Care and working in the field for 11 years, Chelsea has dedicated their career to uplifting the voices of youth, helping them to recognize their power, take up space, and be heard. In their spare time, they can be found backstage doing stage management for burlesque shows or swimming in Long Lake. Qmunity Camp is a passion project for them and they are excited to be growing it with this team! Chelsea is a big fan of dogs, sparkly hair clips and bubble tea.

  • Cindy Ngo (she/her)

    Cindy is a second-generation immigrant who was born and raised in Somba K’e, Denendeh (Yellowknife, NT). She is currently a student at Yukon University studying Early Learning (formerly Early Learning and Child Care). She is passionate about mental health advocacy, climate and social justice, and learning and cooking new foods. Cindy also participated in the first ever Qmunity Camp in 2020!

  • Jamaine Vilan (he/him)

    Jamaine Vilan was born and raised in Denendeh after his family immigrated from the Philippines in the 1990’s. He recently graduated in 2021 from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology with a minor in Sociology. He is passionate about the fine arts and has recently found a love for fashion, in which he does not limit himself to the invented binary of clothing. He persistently tries to challenge everyday social norms in his daily life. Jamaine continues to learn about queer culture and strives to connect with queer people of colour in hopes to nurture his intersecting identity as a queer, second-generation immigrant living in the western world.

  • Megan Lowry

    Megan is a white, queer settler and a newcomer to the NWT. She is a nurse working to reduce health inequality for people experiencing houselessness. She likes to canoe, cross country ski, bake bread, and drink tea. Summer camp and other outdoor experiences were formative for Megan in her youth and she is honoured to support Qmunity Camp in making affirming opportunities to be in community on the land accessible for Northern 2SLGBTQIPA+ youth.

  • Shylo Foster (she/her)

    Shylo is a neurodivergent (ADHD), queer, transgender woman & settler living on gorgeous Chief Drygeese Territory. While originally from Ontario, Shylo has lived half of her life in Yellowknife and is proud to call the North her home.

    Shylo is a passionate volunteer and advocate for her community. She brings with her several years of experience serving the not-for-profit sector, from grant writing and fundraising to community outreach and special events planning. While she makes her living in the field of Information Technology her true love is for the outdoors. In her spare time, she enjoys paddling, cycling, hiking, skiing, and all-season camping.
